Found the ideal load for a non-traditional 30-06 load

I wanted a in-between cartridge for whitetails/blacktails so I came up with this load and I am happy with the results. I don't use a sled for my groupings, so I fire 5 groups of 3 and if I get the same results with 3 of them, im happy with the results and log the load. The photo below is my method of logging the final load.

I don't have that equipment, but by paper my best guess is somewhere around 2750fps

Watch the close shots on Blacktails with those rounds. I've found FTX bullets going much faster than 2500fps tend to grenade

So you're trying to make a 30-30 out of it? Is that the plan?

Its actually a .308 bullet, and yes, i'm well below the numbers for varget, but I combined the 308 numbers with the 30-06 numbers and found that this load had the best groupings. I'm using a .308 designed bullet to avoid the fragmenting that is prevelant with using a 30/30 bullet. It would have been easier to use a 165 gr bullet, but I thought it would be nice to have an inbetween load for those times. My next test with these cartridges will be groupings at 200 and 300 yards and see what my drop over distance is.

In regards to my experience, I'm a greenhorn at reloading, but this is part of my learning process and thought I'd share and see what others had in regards to opinions.

You're not supposed to go below the starting loads just in case you didn't know that, it can cause excessive pressure according to the reloading manuals.

Avoid reduced loads with slow burn-rate powders prevents detonation. Safe with medium burn-rate primers. Used lots of reduced velocity loads that use as little as 50% of max loads. Check loads for cast bullets where reduced velocity is required. I reduced loads for my kids to shoot when they were just starting to shoot.
