An elderly person who recently lost her partner was doing house cleanup when she came across the following various ammo.

  • 5 boxes (20 ea) of Imperial IVI 308 Win. 150 Gr. ST ammo.
  • 15 boxes (100 ea) of CCI 22 MINI GROUP Standard Velocity 40 Gr. ammo. (Production period 1977)
  • 45 Strip Clip 7.62 X 51 ammo head stamped DA-60.
  • 2 boxes (5 ea) of Imperial Special Long Range 12 GA. Poly-Kor Slugs.
  • 2 boxes (5 ea) of Imperial Special Long Range 12 GA. Buckshot Loads (0 Buck).

I took pics of the ammo, most of which obviously are from early 70's & earlier.
The strip clip ammo is the one which has got me wondering about the production period.

As for the CCI 22 MINI GROUP, according to CCI website, it is replaced by the modern CCI Mini Mag Standard Velocity 40 GR.

I couldn't help wonder what the value for these ammo would be currently?

Saw the advertising shown below on the net for individual ammo head stamped DA-60 $10.00 per ammo????

Great find, The DA 60 ammo is good stuff and brass is re loadable not worth 10$ a round though 1$ a round maybe, The CCI mini group is quite the find, Never seen it before right now, The older imperial hunting rounds are nice too, too bad you didnt live closer!

The $10 for that single banded 7.62 Nato round is for a scarce MATCH loading, not a standard BALL round. That's reloadable shooting ammo in the US, and worth about .75-1.00 USD.

Aside from that, it is also listed on a cartridge collectors site, where guys are trying to get the top dollar for 'examples', rather than for shooting ammo. To get that money, or even half that, would take you years of waiting, even if you had the same as that.

The CCI stuff may be worth a bit more than current retail replacement cost, but not by a bunch. The empty boxes, surprisingly, are the bulk of the value, as their are a bunch of guys that collect those. Fewer that collect full ones. Someone from the cartridge collectors world would know better than I, though.
Good clean ammo boxes from way back, are worth a bit. Not get rich money, but not exactly nothing, either.

Cheers

I actually called the lady & asked her what her intentions were regarding the ammo.

I almost choked when she said that I can have it all if I wanted it. All I can say is that I am glad I didn't end up getting a speeding ticket driving to her place. I am now the proud owner of these collectibles ammo.

The Imperial .308 150 gr with saber tip ammunition is in an amazing mint shape. It almost looks like it just came out of the factory line.
I will certainly heed your advise & try to keep all the boxes. However, I kind of want to try out a few rounds of the CCI 22 & Imperial .308 to see how well it shoots.

I have one, yes only one single Imperial Ploy Core slug left from my rather frugal purchase of 5 or 10 from the late 1070's. The boxes are long gone but I remember it like it was only 38 years ago.:d

Let me know if you will part with a box of that CCI Mini Group...cus I want one but have really no idea why other than they're just plain cool.

Just keep in mind that there's a big difference between collectible and valuable. Those IVI boxes are pretty, but they aren't that old. Enjoy them for what they are.

It really bugs me when people tear open those blister packs. They are worth more to me sealed up and original than after somebody's torn them open for a peak. $.02

The imperial stuff isn't that old... after the maker was changed from CIL to IVI sometime in the early 1980s I think. That said, they aren't making any more of it. Shoot it or sell it, but you won't be getting rich ...

For some reason I count a $100 there.
Don't know why.
She gave you a decent gift.
I'd find her a gift certificate of some sort.
Just me typing out loud.

Actually, thats how I got it. One of the pouch was already open. In a way, I am glad it was already opened, otherwise, curiosity would have tormented me.

I asked her if I could pay her. But she said she didnt want it in her home. The rest is history.
as for getting her something as a token of my appreciation, my wife has seen an item in a store which she thinks will appreciate.
