My knowledge of these rifles is limited. I know it's a SMLE MKIII made in 1917 in 303 calibre. It was owned by a collector who had it stored for close to 60yrs before he passed away. His wife kept it for a number of years before deciding to get rid of his collection.
The bore is near mint. Removed the wood and cleaned out the dust/lint. Metal underneath is perfect. No cracks in the wood. Parts have the same number with the exception of the magazine. And yes, I put 20 rounds of Winchester 180 grain through it. No issues at all. Actually a real pleasure to shoot.
I found some of the markings on the internet but not all. Can anyone give me some more details on the history of this rifle?
Much appreciated.
