Gone an' done it again:D just ordered this one from Track of the Wolf today.

This used left hand Carolina Fowler is stocked in maple stained to a whiskey brown. Fitted with a large Siler lock, this iron trimmed flint smoothbore is built around a 20 gauge, 42” octagon-to-round barrel. Assembled and signed by contemporary builder Jackie Brown.

The 20 gauge smoothbore octagon-to-round smoothbore barrel is ready to go. The octagon flats travel 12” forward before transitioning to round at a single wedding band. Signed on the top flat, the barrel is finished to a smooth dark brown.

Weighing in at 7.5 pounds the rifle has a trigger reach of 13-3/4”, perfectly setup for today’s average size shooter.
 
nice gun, bob, i have the trade gun bug to, i have two, caywood wilson 20 ga , lefty, and a northwest trade gun 20 ga from track i have more fun with those than any rifle i have ever owned, jim really liked you trail walks very nice, wade,

Like Wade said,Bob, thats a smart looking smooth bore. will have to get over to PORT to have a first hand look:runaway: fired my new flinter this week and it is ACTUALLY accurate!!! can hit 3 inch bull @ 50 yards. as per your instructions. 60 gr.fffg and allwent well. met J.A.(2 paw Trading) at the nanaimo gun show on the 27th. really nice gentleman.purchased some balls and flints and other possibles. thank-you again for your advice.....POPS (Glenn);)
 
Lefty's are tough to find , I was actually contemplating one for sale at Americanlongrifle.com,it's going for $500,with a slightly pitted bore, and R hand.
I was just cruising through Track, when I spotted this one for $815, helps when the dollar is strong now also.
Yours are leftys also Wade aren't they ?.

This left hand Germanic Jaeger rifle is notable for its use of best quality parts, fine fit, and careful finish. The remarkable quality that makes this rifle a treasure is in the precise workmanship, and decoration. Quality is never a lucky accident, and gunsmith Ron Scott is well known for producing quality rifles.

The 30" swamped octagon barrel by W.E. Rayl is thickest at the breech, tapers to a narrow waist and flares slightly at the muzzle. The thick breech provides strength while the swamp reduces weight. Cut rifled in .58 caliber with radius groove rifling in a slow twist for patched round balls. The barrel is finished to a pewter gray.

The barrel is fitted with a Germanic leaf sight with engraved finial. The sight has a single leaf which flips up securely. The front sight is a low steel blade polished bright.

Ron had it at the Monroe Wash. BP show last year. I did'nt fondle it ,was drooling too much.

No - I haven't looked at the rifles in a while, just the smoothbores. That is a beautiful piece of work though! I'm not a lefty, but I do browse the TOTW flintlock ads now and then, especially the smoothies, because I am a bird hunter at heart (turkeys/waterfowl). After a couple of years shooting my turkeys with percussion fowlers, I broke down and bought what I really wanted - a flintlock fowler. I checked the TOTW site everyday for months before finally deciding. I bought a Caywood 20ga. french trade gun a couple years back. I use it now for my Ontario turkey hunts (I've shot my 2 toms/year with it this year and last). I haven't hunted deer in years, but I think I will this year on account of my interest in doing it with the flinter. The gun shoots PRB very well. I've used the gun for geese too, and it is surprisingly effective!

Sorry Baron, I somehow missed your post.
Nice fowler, IMO Caywoods are right up there, If I was going to build one Caywood would be my choice.
What load do you prefer for turkey hunting ? My daughter is interested in turkey hunting, that would be a hoot is she did it with the fowler.

Wade are you going to Heffley this year, maybe we can shoot the smoothbore trail with Mike. We've handed over the fort shoot to Jim J and the West Coast Rangers.

Claven, have you heard of Jackie Brown.

Gun arrived Fri June 8th, 9 days after they shipped it. Whistled right through Customs.
The fit and finish overall is pretty good, the lock and trigger are excellent, the vent liner is hex and was drilled out .061" -----BUT ----the bore is rusty!!Had to use a 3/8" brass range rod to load, there are 3 tight spots down towards the bottom. I'm going to use JB paste and shoot it some more plus I'll be calling TOTW on Mon.
Although I found the ignition pretty fast, I'm changing the liner to one that is coned on the inside and drilled out to .061", for faster ignition.
Down the road I have a Jim Chambers White Lightning I'm going to install.

nessy: don;t know much about the guy, but have seen several of his guns for sale here an there. Fit and finish is usually pretty good, but not stupendous.

Claven, his name rings a bell, maybe that's why, you're spot on the fit and finish. I'm not complaining it's a great deal for the money. I think I have the bore cleaned up, new vent liner, ready to go to the range tomorrow.

I have had very good luck loading 80gr. FFFg Goex, 4 overshot cards over the charge, 1 1/8oz. #6 and then 1 overshot card. That patterns well out to 20 yards for turkeys. I used to load a bit heavier and use an overpowder card, cushioned wad and a bit heaveir shot charge, but it didn't pattern any better and I ended up stepping down. By eliminating the heavier cushioned wads and using a bunch of overpoweder wads instead, it avoids the heavy wads blowing through the shot charge and creating a "donut" effect in the pattern. You can also add a plastic shot cup and see a bit of improvement in the pattern, but I like to keep my loading traditional.

Shooting turkeys with the flinter is very gratifying. If your daughter is interested in trying that, I say go for it!
 
That's interesting, I'll have to try that. One more reason to hit the range ;)
Wonder how that would work for trap ?
I've found a couple of shot cushion wads that had quite a bit of shot imbedded in the bottom, after that I used an over shot card under the cushion.
