Foxpro users...... If you could have only 1 sound....

So I was out this evening calling for Yotes, they had me surrounded (literally 3 groups of dogs) but wouldn't come out despite throwing almost everything I had in the Foxpro at them.
Female Long Howls
Female Invitation Howls
Female Challenge
Male Challenge
Lightning Jack
DSG Cottontail
Snowshoe Hare 1
Pup Disress 1
Pup Distress 3
And a few hand calls thrown in as well. (not necessarily in that order)

I guess one came to the Crow Fight call but it was almost too dark to shoot and I was about 20 paces away from my gun in knee deep snow, going to grab the e-caller, when I spotted something dark on the other side of the marsh. Tried to get back to the gun but it was gone by the time I got on the scope.

So if you had only 1 call available to you on your Foxpro, what would it be? What drives the Yotes crazy enough to abandon cover and present themselves for a shot opportunity?
 
In situations similar to your I have had great success with Coy pup distress, especially this time of year and when I have multiple groups howling and vocalizing back and forth. Just my 2c YMMV
 
If the foxpro had only one sound I would've stuck with my lanyard of mouth calls. That being said, one of the rabbit distress cries would be my pick.

I think that is the original problem. Calling too much is a very common beginner mistake. It is quite easy to call too much; it is quite hard to call too little.

If you used all those sounds at one set up, you probably had the coyotes quite amused, but not fooled at all. One sound for 30 seconds, and then wait for 5 minutes. Repeat three or four times and you should know all you need to know about that spot. We use dying rabbit calls of various types almost exclusively. Others work, apparently, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I would not go back to the spot where you used your "symphony" for the rest of this winter. They are probably still giggling. :)
 
Kittens, seems to work everywhere, every time.
At the risk of being at the butt end of many jokes (pun) I used distressed sheep today, on coyotes that have been preying on sheep.
One call that will always work, is the animal that is native to you.
 
Thanks for the input guys,

Yeah, I thought about it after (even though it was an hour+ calling session) I figured out that I was trying to play what it was I thought they wanted to hear at the time rather than calling smartly and in a more natural way.

All advice is good advice and I'll take it all. :)
