Looking for some input on the various models people have used. I love my Kerry Carver calls, but looking to add in an E-Caller.

I'm seriously considering the Firestorm model, but would consider an alternate if ppl have a good recommendation.

Cheers

I've have owned and used the Fury and now have the Shockwave. I have liked the Fury but now the two advantages I see is that I can turn the speakers in the direction I want the sound to go in which is a very good idea. Another point is the Fox bang and after the shot it automatically changes to a call of your choice.

The down fault is the amount of batteries that the Shockwave takes, over the Fury and with any electronic caller you should have a full exchange of batteries as I have had the units died in the middle of a set. Hand calls are also important because if you walk distance off the road and something happens you always have back up. I change it up on a lot of sets and change from hand calls to the electronic mostly at the start, but also at the end of a set too.

When it comes to callers, my opinion is volume is very important in coyote calling...

Have you not tried the 12 volt gell cell battery? You must go through an incredible amount of regular batteries.

Hey... I have a lowly spitfire and it works great for me... Too much volume is unnatural... It's important to really mimic the distressed animal...

Won't argue your results adrian but it works great for me... Success rate maybe 50 percent or so... Mind you, I guess it depends on terrain...

I like the Foxpro Wildfire and have had several e callers including homemade ones. The Foxbang is a great option especially if there are more than one and you don't see them initially after the shot. Battery use is good depending on use of aux speaker.

I like to use the Foxpro on a low volume then as time passes without response use a Dan Thompson open reed hand call for volume. Then when you get a response let the lower volume Foxpro get and keep his attention as he comes in. It keeps any chance of amp clip and distortion with high volume, although I've tried to get mine to distort at high volume without success.

I have the Wildfire and Shockwave, I believe all new models come with foxbang. The shock wave has the most features for the money, if your looking at the Firestorm, spend the extra on the shock wave. The remote is a massive upgrade as well as extra pre-loaded calls. I don't have a single complaint with the Shockwave

I picked up a hellfire in the fall. Havent really played with it too much, so I cant say to much about it. One thing I would like would be something on the remote that tells a person if your playing a sound or not.

Also make sure to pick up GOOD rechargeable batteries for your ecallers

I actually want to know about your K Carver calls. I was looking at picking up one of his strickly business package.

I picked up a set of these a few years ago and really like them....they compliment my willdfire 2 call and sp-55 speaker very well... I think they are well worth the price

Hey thanks fratri for your input.

One question though :)

Iwas looking on his site at the description the the strictly business set and I aint really sure which are the open reed calls. Which three are the open reed calls?

Sorry for the lil derail. ;)

The open reed ones are the last 3 on the right in the strictly business set 44.95 includes shipping to Canada... That strictly business (5 calls) set is a great price for the quality of calls you are getting..

So the open reed calls are Howler, Rabid Rabbit Extreme and Crazed Cottontail? I wasnt sure on his wording for the howler is all I was kind of asking.

Price was delivered up here? Nice

You could always give Foxpro a call. They usually have some reconditioned models for sale at a reduced price. When i bought mine a few years ago i saved about $65 over the best price anywhere else and they loaded all the sounds i requested. I was a little worried about buying a reconditioned unit but i've used it hard for 5+ years and it hasnt missed a beat. Mine is an older unit, an FX3 i think. It only holds 30 sounds at once but i've never felt the need to upgrade to a newer model.

I have a Firestorm and have had good success with it and quite enjoy it. When I bought Mine it was the new model and top line features. My only complaint with my particular unit is that if my remote bangs my gun or other hard object by accident on a stand it switches the FoxBang on, also sometimes the call doesn't respond to the remote the first time I push the button. I think the Firestorm comes with the TX-9 remote and the one a step up from it on the Shockwave and others seems worth the $ for example you can punch in a sounds # rather than scrolling through 50-100 sounds to find what you want. Just my opinion but you cant really go wrong with any of the FoxPro products.

If your call is equipped with FoxBang you just turn it on and when you shoot at a coyote the call automatically starts playing whichever sound you've selected as your first preset. I've had good luck using this to stop second coyotes while using "wounded pup" or "coyote death cry"

Ok,thats what I was wondering, what call is played after the shot, I can also see this feature working great for crow hunting.

I have been using mine for deer this year, with great success.
I added some visual stimulation by tapping in to a wobbly rabbit, then putting a 1/8" jack in it. I can run the rabbit off of the "AUX" button of the remote.
For deer, I take the rabbit off the wire and hang a white feather from it, it is producing great results. It allows me to twitch the feather.
For coyotes, I record most of my own calls, then put them on the FoxPro, I found a lot of the internet stuff did not match my territory.

I bought a brand new Firestorm and the audio jack wasn't even soldered down... I fixed it myself instead since Foxpro was telling other people online that it was a defective audio jack that needed to be replaced and I felt they were just trying to blame the supplier and not themselves for not doing a good job in the QC department so I wasn't going to pay any more then I already did for a cheaply manufactured caller with a big price tag but besides that it's pretty impressive and everyone I show it to wants one.
