Frame Pack

anyone ever hear of or use this pack.. Fairly cheap and has everything I was looking for besides the quick detach rifle

I had their day pack, bino pack, and sporting scope pack once. They sold me a mix of old product and new product, the difference being the fasteners, none of the accessories would fasten to the day pack. I was mad, then I was supposed to pay postage to ship it back on exchange. I was madder, sold it all at a yard sale.

we are fairly the same size less the belly lol and it worked great for me. there is a guy on 24h campfire a little smaller than i and he used it a lot while caribou hunting ... if i can help an easterner ... btw +2c today in Whitehorse ..

+10 and starting to rain here. Worse still, I'm turning into a big puss...-8 and I'm wearing a toque and shivering. What the hell happened to me?

did you read online reviews? the forum that Kuiu had has been closed.

that brand is the hype of the moment: do not forget the guy that created it, created also sitka in the past.

you need tools that works not the ones changed every year.

i do not think they are doing the best frame.

if you are on a budget look the frame mentionned by llbean and add what you need on it ...

Think im going to try Horn Hunter Packs. http://hornhunterpacks.com/
Good reviews, what im looking for, and reasonably priced. Emailed them for some info and was sent a code 15% off when ordering.

They're a nice looking pack as well. But they're like flypaper for a guy like me. I'm a backpack whore. I think the outdoor stores would be well served to have "dummy loads" that people can load up in a pack to try out in the store.

I have an outdoorsman optics hunter, I love it. I haven't been able to totally abuse it as I'm waiting for shoulder surgery but it's the only bag I have been able to adjust to make it comfortable enough with my injury.

Only big problems I have with it are no rain cover, and the dollar tanking.

That's the review I started a year plus ago. Didn't haul anything big and meat looking this year. It's always there though.

Just go around the store filling it up with gear. I've been known to do that a lot, they only look at you weird until the ask what your doing.... then they are amazed and call you smart. Haven't had a store yet say no.

Why not kuiu?

KUIU makes some decent clothing, but their packs aren't worth the price. I know of one pack with holes worn thru the bag, from the Jeep ride to it's first trailhead...

If you're looking at Horn Hunter packs, have you bumped your budget up a bit? If so, you're on the right track... $200 doesn't get much of a pack these days, unfortunately... If you've reached the point of being willing to consider spending a little more than your original budget, I'd strongly recommend that you consider the Seek Outside Revolution packs and bags. Extremely light, strong and actually properly designed to carry loads, heavy and light, as comfortably as possible. Another good option would be finding a used Kifaru Duplex or Bikini. Again, well designed to carry loads... Seems basic for a backpack, but most packs these days are more about form, than function...

Willing to spend more then 200$ when I said couple hundred I should have specified. Budget for a pack is between 300-400. I could spend more but to me a pack shouldnt be more then that, foolish the price of some. I looked at a tenzig cf 13 for example. With the dollar now and tax your almost looking at 1500$ for a pack. Ive never heard of Seek Outside Revolution I will look into those.

The crappy thing about where I live as well there is no where really that sells gear close. I would have to travel between 1.5-3 hours to any real dealer with a variety of gear. So its iffy anyways im kind of going off reviews which isnt the best option but its what Im stuck with for now. So all replies are appreciated greatly.

Ok. You should be able to get a good pack on the secondary market for in or close to your budget. Watching the equipment exchanges on a few of the western hunting forums would be a good start.

To say nothing of quality... That Tenzing is a terrible design, they didn't even get the basics of frame/suspension design right. Not worth $100, let alone their $900 USD MSRP...

If I may- I'd recommend educating yourself on pack fitting/torso length and the relationship those have with pack frame lengths and suspension design. Time well spent before you spend your hard earned cash on a pack. :) I believe a few guys had videos on YouTube or Vimeo a while back? I'll see if I can find you one...

This is obviously somewhat manufacture specific- Kifaru- but it does give a great overview of the basics of a properly fitted backpack... After watching this video, you should be able to see why that Tenzing, and many other mainstream packs, are a steaming pile of poorly designed crap.

Good luck and enjoy your shopping. :)

Investing In a good backboard is a Wise decision and taking your time and shop around is smart
Too many New hunters overlook the importance of a packboars and wind up shooting a animal that thay can't Retrieve
Myself I don't like having a bag on the board wen packing big game out its the frame that's important to me and not the bag
