This may be a dumb question but the wind chill is -52 outside and I'm not going to the range! So with nothing else to do I'll ask dumb questions. Does anyone know if the frame sizes (DW/S&W) can be compared or are they totally different frames. I have a 44mag DW with the 8" barrel and wondered what size of frame it would be equivalent to in the S&W revolvers. Over the last 20 years I've managed to lose the paper that came with the gun so I don't even know what model it is. I'm in the process of buying a 357 S&W from a fellow CGN and learned that it was a K frame - this prompted the question about the DW :rolleyes: Thanks for any info

Actually the DW 357 is closer to the 586/686 twins (it uses Python holsters, which the 586/686 were designed to emulate). The DW 44 is much bigger then an N frame, even if it does use the same speedloaders (lots of "wiggle" in these). Closer to a Redhawk, actually, slightly larger but smaller then a Super Redhawk. - dan
 
Thanks guys. This info does help. Going back over my reloading and test notes from the early 90's I'm glad the DW is compared to the strong Rugers. My notes show that I was using 22 grains of H4227 with the Hornady 300gn. XTP. Velocity was approx. 1300fps. My comments at that time were "accurate, no mess, loud, holy crap recoil!"

ian_in_vic we go thru a couple of scrapers a winter. They tend to break in these temps.:(

That K frame though is a little light for a steady diet of hot .357.....if you stick to .38sp it will last you a lifetime.
