I've always loved the 20 gauge for partridge hunting, and want to get a new one for next fall. I've been reading about the three above. I do a lot of walking. Any opinions? Thanks!

Go with the time proven recoil operated Franchi 48. Set the recoil system to handle 7/8 oz loads and don't look back. You will find it is probably the lightest to carry all day also. The new AL48 models have the best wood.

The Franchi carry's like a dream in the grouse woods and points lightning fast. Its the lightest of three you are talking about and the best suited for your application. But if you are planning on using heavy loads IE over 1oz. The other two you mentioned would be a better choice do to less recoil. But you don't need heavy loads for grouse.

Thanks guys, I'm leaning toward the Franchi, but I'm going to try to find someone that has the Browning and try it out.

The franchi is 10oz lighter than the browning but it is also limited to 2 3/4" shells .I put a fair bit of wear on my boots this past fall with my browning in my hand and at 6 lb 5 oz it carries easily .

I thought they stopped making the al48 in 12ga and replaced it with the affinity which is 3".
Either one doesn't like shells lighter than 3 dram, 1-1/8 oz also which has to be considered.
