I was able to shoulder the new Franchi autoloader the other day, I couldn't help but notice that the action is very similar to the Benelli.
The gun feels very nice, well made and has a great price point.

My first question is, will this gun be as problematic as the benelli guns are when it comes to using light target loads?

And secondly, how would it measure up to the Winchester SX3?
 
I've been using my A400 this year for trap and skeet. I like it quite a bit. However, when I tried double trap I quickly discovered that autos suck at it. You can't be pre-loaded when your turn comes, and you have to let the shells fly and probably hit the guy beside you (can't use the rubber band trick).
 
My a400 Xcel does not eject the shell to the next station, I use it for trap and 5 stand. very happy with it. shoots light target loads very effectively. I don't shoot double trap because my club doesn't have it.
I only load on five stand when it is my turn, takes 5 seconds if that, i don't see how it is an issue for double but maybe I'm missing something.
 
Hmm, interesting. My Xcel throws target shells about 6 feet to my right. It will hit the microphone/horn stand on the station beside me quite often. Wonder if something is different between our two guns?
 
are you using 2 3/4 dram or 3 dram loads, I know most autoloaders need the 3 dram but am curious as to if they will shoot the 2 3/4 drams 1 1/8oz # 7.5, since thats what I buy for both my pump and O/U
 
I have two Benelli Cordoba's the first has about 30k rounds through and the 2nd has about 10k. Neither have had an issue cycling light loads. Including Winchester extra light #9's
 
Just purchased an Affinity...fits and feels good...very light weight...has the safety at rear trigger guard which I like...cycles 2 3/4dram 1 1/8oz #7.5 without a problem...great auto for the money.

I also have two Benelli Cordoba's..neither has as many rounds as Brians, but i have never had a problem in either gun . I also have a very nice, light and a good shooter, a Franchi Predator..Now with it I have had cycling problems with the light win loads. It has a gas system where you turn the gas rings around for light or heavy loads. 3 dram stuff shoots great, but ot the real light..
 
I have two Benelli semis , a M1 and a Super Sport , neither have ever had any cycling issues in any weather or any temperature , even with the cheap Crappy Tire and Wally World ammo .

Not to sound rude, but what are you talking about? The Benelli has not issue with target loads. I've got a supersport and I've never had an issue.

I've only heard rhumors of peoples first generation super black eagles haveing issue with light loads but have also hear that you can wear the spring in for light load by cycling one or two heavy loads through the gun first. But everyone I know who owns one hasn't had any problems with target loads or anything else.
