I posted this in the gunsmithing forum with no luck so I'll try here

My Renaissance 12 gauge has recently developed an ejection issue only during firing, it works perfectly with snap caps. Here's the issue , when I fire the top barrel first the top shell ejects and the bottom shell stays as it should but if I fire the bottom barrel first the fired shell and the top unfired shell both eject.
I examined the ejector sears and they seem ok with no obvious wear and with the stock off the ejector rods both move forward when they should. Since this issue does not occur with dry firing I'm stumped as to a possible cause.
I will probably need to send it away but I was hoping there's a small chance that someone might have experienced and solved a similar issue. I doubt the local smith is up to the task as he seems to be mostly a rifle guy.
I did replace the ejector springs a while ago so I'm going to reinstall the old ones but I can't see how this could cause the issue.

Took it out with the old ejectior springs and the same issue, the upper ejector keeps getting tripped without the ejector rod being released. I dropped it off at the local smith but I suspect it'll be a c-note or more to be told he couldn't fix it.

Are the ejectors in the proper spots? I have zero knowledge on the subject so maybe it's not possible, but could you have them in the opposite spot of where they should be? i.e. top in bottom and bottom in top position?

The old springs were getting weak barely ejecting the shells, the new ones eject the shells smartly. The ejectors are easily removed with one screw and are supposed to be cleaned once a year or so as part of the regular maintenance they only fit in one way, I've had them off before for cleaning with no issues. It seems that whatever triggers the ejector on the upper barrel has become worn or broken but I'll be darned if I can see it.

Well I got the gun back from my LGS and he couldn't find an obvious cause so he gave the for end metal a sonic cleaning and it test fired fine. He thinks there may have been some swarf left over from manufacturing or some other particle that got in there , either way it appears to be back in action in time for the crap weather we are currently having. :)
