Good day,

I thought I would ping the collective wisdom on this particular shotgun as Google searches aren't coming up with a lot of information about this gun. I am discussing a trade for this gun and the owner has advised me that this is a $2300 gun. I can't seem to find a value on this gun but I thought I would ask what the general thoughts are on this gun and if the value is there for this particular piece.

Cheers,

Glock

The Renaissance is the precursor of Instinct SL ( Aluminum alloy frame) and the descendant of the Alcione. They are a bit above entry level shotguns like the Yildiz but are not Berettas. They were never a $2k shotgun when sold ( I bought mine BNIB for $1k ), to get an idea of what a new one would cost today check out the price of the Instinct SL with the alloy frame.

The above is bang on. Which model of renaissance is it? Base models are $1000-$1200 guns. The classic model is a $1200-$1500 gun and the elite model is a $1600-$2000 gun. The are mechanically identical to the Instinct SL but with a nicer engraved receiver and TSA recoil pad. Sub gauges are priced slightly higher then the 12g. The classic and elite models have gold inlay game scenes. I’ve owned about 8 of these guns and know them well. In no way shape or form will the seller get $2300 unless it was a 28g Elite with outstanding walnut stocks that is brand new in box. A ducks unlimited model will be priced like a classic model

Further to the last post, the Renaissance/Instinct SL is an excellent quality upland gun....but at $2300, you’re way better off getting something like a Citori 725 ultralight. Much better option in every aspect. Also, the safety and mechanical triggers of the Franchi arent bad, but far from great. The guns are actually manufactured by Bettinsoli and are similar to some of the Bettinsoli offerings

I have a 20ga Franchi Renaissance I bought for $1400 brand new about 10 years ago. I really like it, very light weight fast handling upland gun. I always thought they where undervalued but they are worth what they are worth. Not $2300

Gents: I appreciate your answers gents as it helps a lot. The model I am looking at picture wise is being described as a "Field" model the receiver is silver with an engraved scene but no gold inlay. It is a 12 Gauge with 3 chokes. The stock looks nice but isn't highly figured from what I can see.

I checked out the Gagnon Sports model and the one I am looking at looks pretty much like the model in the picture except it is in 12G and has a little bit more figure in the stock. What is a fair value on this shotgun? His gun is nice so I don't want to be a lowballer...

I think that $2300 was way too high. I thought more like 1400 or so, original price. Prices have crept up but not that much. 20 gauge always commands a premium over 12 gauge.
I would not pay what a used Beretta would cost for a Franchi.

I sold 4 different Field models but none sold for more than $1200. It took a long while to get $1500 for one of my Classic models, and that one had outstanding quality walnut stocks. The other two Classic models I sold I got $1300 and $1400 respectively. All the guns I sold had better quality walnut then the one currently at Gagnons.

I bought a brand new one in 12ga and it was junk. closed it on a shell that wasn't quite chambered and gouged the soft alloy receiver. it was really stiff to open at first but in no time it was well on its way to getting loose. it was light,so good hunting gun, clay sports, not much good.
