So my partner was all keen for some dog tucker seeing as the cold has finally hit...
So this morning we were woken early by the dogs proberly barking at Foxes just outside the house yard!!
5 am sucks!
But by 6am After a Cuppa , I went back to see her in bed and we discussed our options...
Stay in bed, snuggle and do SFA for a while....
Or , Brave the cold and see about a property for a sambar deer , for the doggys!

I was keen for the snuggles... But she was keen for the potential of dog food!!

So I said, You make the Coffee... I'll grab the guns...!!!

Went out to see what was up the back , it was bloody cold, -5 degree C an everything Frosted!

A hind knew what was up as it seen my ute trolling the farm track an headed southbound at 100km/h!

So we parked up the back fence and glassed onto 'the hill' ...

TBC

Sorry guys, out for Dinner.. shall finish off later 🙏🫎😊

Shortly after the sun rose on the face of the Hill, I picked up a couple Deer!
What appeared a lone deer down low turned into a group of maybe 3 in blackberry and scrub..

One nice stag up higher on the hill showed itself and sunned for a good half an hour.

So we slowly walked into a better range, thinking and hoping for a 200-250m shot toward the Hill...

With the wind (breeze) combined with thermals rising in the sun and falling in the shade , it was difficult to decide which way to go , so plenty of options!

We went closer, then to the top of the hill via the shaded side!
Spooking a unseen hind , which luckily ran away from the other deer !

Another half an hour later an we were on-top, slowly stalking toward the crest of the hill to keep wind right and get a visual!

Our first visual!

With a stand off for 10mins, he went back to feeding and slowly fed away so as we could sneak forward to await the presence of the deer from lower down!

It was about 15 minutes later when I seen a deer feeding up toward us.

On our Bums, we slid closer.

Now only 30meters away, thermals breeze and luck was on our side.

I got her to line up the deer in the scope, adjust the zoom in or out that suited her an to get ready to locate the shoulder and place her shot.

Our hand load of 150gr at 2400fps soon Cracked!!!

I was watching the deer. Which immediately Jumped at the shot...

He ran 30-40 meters and fell over, kicked once and that was it.

I was and am Super proud of My Partner

More photos to come!!!!! Stay tuned.
