Does anyone on this board own a frank-en-mauser? Looking at another site for a while and came accross several threads on "Frank-En-Mausers". Apparently the Turks converted a bunch of SMLE and Long Lees both British and Australian to 8x57, changeing out bbls and forends as well as top wood. Mauser pattern sights, top wood and bayonet ferrule on fore end, butt, receiver group and bolt with altered bolt face and extractor. The receiver had typical Ankara markings and a special ring welded on the face to accept the top wood. Very different, an unusual rifle that I would like to own if it could be found for a decent price. It seems that CAI has a few of them, but upon phoneing them, yes but we're not sure what we've done with them, or maybe there aren't any left, call back next week please, I'm sure we'll know by then. From the wesite threads, they go for around $100US. It seems that the Turks captured thousands of lee enfields at Galipoli and other battle sights and after the captured ammunition ran out, started to convert them to 8MM mauser.
