Franken-Stevens! (update)

Good job converting the blank to work with the 200.

They sure didn't hook you up with much figure in the stock did they? How was Great American to deal with?

Long story short, wouldn't recommend them.

They were horrible. No acknowledgement of my having sent credit card info, no acknowledgement of their having shipped the stock, no shipping info what-so-ever. And this was AFTER I had put in a previous order and hadn't heard anything for two weeks: "Oh, we don't actually have that one in stock, so you'll have to order a different one." was their response to my enquiries.

Then, when the stock arrived, I was expecting a nicely semi-classy figured walnut burl stock with ebony fore-end tip, and instead I got some piece of s**t with no ebony at all (the tip you see on the stock now is my own addition). They completely screwed up the order, and to make it worse the inletting wouldn't even work with what I needed. After repeated phone-calls/emails trying to fix the situation, I never heard anything back. Eventually I just gave up.

So it was pretty much an expensive piece of firewood until I tried to make it work for the Stevens. It sat in a corner for almost 2 years until I decided that no amount of tinkering would make me like the Stevens stock, and tried to make that walnut blank work. Turned out alright I guess. Some wall areas are a little thin for my liking, but what can you you do.
