A while back a friend of mine gifted me a no.4 mk2 Enfield. It had been sporterized(rather badly) , bore was toast, butt stock cut off for about a 12 inch length of pull. I set it aside until I saw an interesting sporter wood set for sale for reasonable price. It was a nice piece of walnut well done, checkered, with some folk art carved in the butt stock . Acquired an EAL barrel last spring original with super bore but light pits on outside, around 21 inches. Spun original barrel off replaced with EAL barrel. Headspace is perfect. I think result is rather pleasing for a woods rifle, weighs just under 7 lbs. Whoever did the wood had some skill as checkering is borderless and wraps around the forend. Grip on butt stock is modified in a clever way and looks nice, I think. What do you think? I have $140 invested.
