Hello I was wondering if any lower mainland hunters could give me some info on the requirements to bird hunt in the lower valley. What I'd like to know is how to get the million dollar insurance needed. I'm a BCWF member and I believe this membership includes liability insurance but I'm not sure if this is good enough. Any info would be appreciated. Cheers

Just show your BCWF card when you go to get your Fraser Valley Special area license. That insurance policy is all you need . You can get that license where ever you get a hunting license. You will also need a migratory bird license you can get at any post office.

Actually it's impossible to get the federal migratory permit at any postal outlet in Vancouver now. You have to go to the downtown office or maybe the biggest one you can find in Burnaby.

I ended up getting mine in Port Hardy while I was up there last month because small town post offices still carry them.

Thanks for the info! I thought the post office part might be tricky. There isn't many real post offices around anymore. The liability question is answered and I'll head downtown to get the permits. Much appreciated. Cheers

Also VERY handy to get a map of the discharge zones to make sure you aren't violating some stupid local bylaw about ammo type, acceptable discharge times, etc...I got hassled about my ammo type until I pulled out the map to show that it was acceptable in that area...I was on the right side of the road that was the dividing line between a "multiple projectile" zone and a "single projectile" zone

Got mine at the Maple Ridge post office, no issues. A friend of mine got his in Langley post office, also no issues.
