Freaking rednecked old timers

The only time I think of myself as an old man (77 yrs) is when I look in the mirror. :p

And the first 5 minutes in the morning, before the joints warm up...
Or after wiping out on the bike...
Or the day after teaching the nephew how to clear obstacle doing a jump and shoulder roll... :p

-*-*-

On a more serious note, I guess I'll count my blessings. All the clubs have been a member of were typically dominated by nice people doing their best to keep the clubs going

And old farts are the problem YEP we sure are. Thanks for your post cath8r and confirming what everyone already knows

An speaking as a long time club exec (at other clubs)... some of the stupid rules (or why people might seem grumpy) is because there's always a stupid member (somewhere) doing stupid things... and the older-farts/members are the ones having to do the repairs...

Right on.

Agree 100%!
Local clubs are typically dominated by 'old wasp fudds' that truly are, for the most part, an embarassment to the sport. Sad to say.

I have no idea what an "old wasp fudd" is but I will say this, when you build a club through sweat and hard work then you will be able to judge instead of displaying your ingnorace as you have just now!

Building the club is one thing, then there is the ongoing maintenance. I have posted these pics before.

People too stupid to NOT put their targets on the upright posts. This means more work for volunteers.

Do you think this was done by old WASP fudds?

No one seems to bring up when the old farts accidentally shoot the trap house.

Our club charges $100 for that, and as a result haven't had it happen yet. We've built it up so that the first to do it will be so heavily ridiculed, that knock on wood hasn't.

The few that do the work is said a bunch of times here. I could really care less. There are things no one at the club sees, and do not give praise for.

So for all you 10% who volunteer and do all that you do, have a big slice of rasin pie, on me, at that.

I do almost NOTHING for volunteering for my club. I do not feel I am not contributing. I make sure when I AM there, I run by the rules. I am a stickler for the safety items, also. I leave things cleaner and better than when I arrive, as much as I can, every time. I really do not go there to talk to people. Not interested in your life, that is just the way I am.

However, I much prefer shooting on my own land, or crown land. I care for those locations also.

I also pay for 5 active memberships annually, OTHER than mine, for my family who NEVER go there. When the executive phones me and they need support on an issue, like getting a letter written, they get 6, not 1. It costs money to maintain a facility, not just the volunteerism so people can see you and you can be all proud of yourselves. You can all have that.

Things you do not see can still contribute to a club, as much as things you do see.

After reading this thread, easy to tell who all the look at me types are. Yes, I fall in that 90% who you do not see volunteering at the events. Or going to the appreciation day to consume the free hotdog so you can all pat each other on the back. You 10% who do all that, be proud of who you are.

I do not need a membership, I have places to shoot. I see my part as contributing to the sport. Evident in this thread, more than many, what you all value. My $0.02

Fair enough, you would be welcome at our club any time.

Theres bad apples in every gender and age.

I love when some old fudd tells me not to rapid fire my 9mm, in reality its more like 1 shot every second, then proceeds to deafen us all with his 300 weatherby.

I'd pull out my 30Herrett and return the favor. Nothing like a shortened 3030 from a 10" barrel.

If nothing else, this thread has proved that there actually are a lot of grumpy old farts running gun clubs. :d

It’s sorta like star bucks the lowest employee at work is the boss for 1 minute while ordering that special coffee.

Lots of nobody’s take things a bit over the top at gun clubs.

No amount of sweat or hard work give ANYONE the right to be Racist. Period !
