Free 7.62 ammo

Well guys, I have to say this. BIG thanks to Maynard for The open Inveite to this practice day, AND the extremely nice donation of some Surplus 308.

I brought out the almost new Nork M-14s to Give this 300m thing a try. This was the first time ive shot that far on a range, first time to a military range, and a few other firsts and not since way backs. Reminded me of way back when 308 was cheap and FN FAL's were just regular guns. The shooters out there were all friendly and had some nice rigs. I could also see through my cheap spotting scope that they were pretty good shots too! lots of bulls and Vbulls being marked.

300m is a decent challenge. Especially with my rig, but I managed some good hits. I sot somewhere over 100 rounds with all hits on paper and 3/4 of them in the black. 2 vbulls, 12 bulls, 21 4s. my best 3 strings were my last ones before lunch when I was all warmed up 32/50 33/50 1v 26/50. went a bit downhill in the afternoon though.

I had a great time, well worth the visitor fee and the 1h 15m drive each way.
I learned alot and will likely be back again to see if I can get better.

Oh yah, thanks again Tom.
And anyone who thinks about this and doesnt do it, is missing out BIG time.

here the rig out on the line

thatguymoses - so nice to see that you actually went and *did* something, and shot. Good to see you had fun, hope you'll go back for more and more.

It really is quite remarkable just how well you can hit targets at 300m with an iron-sighted battle rifle, eh? Looking through the sights and seeing what we see, it's kind of amazing that we are able to hit anything at all - and yet, the majority of our hits are well within that tiny, blurry, fuzzy black blob of an aiming mark(!).

Clean your rifle, scrub it out, lube it up, and take it out again...!

The offer is still good for free 7.62 this Sunday at Cedar Springs. thatguymoses, glad you had a good time and hope to see you out on the range again soon.

Hey Tom,,,,,
If your scrounging up free ammo to be shot off, even military stuff, I'll come out and shoot all the 50 Cal. stuff you can find me.

But

I know I can't take the ammo home but could I at least keep a few emptys ??

M.

If you've got another 100 rounds to spare, Id come out again this sunday!
Ill bring my buddies 22-250 varmint rig to try out 20 or 40 shots as well.
Does last week cound as going towards an ORA membershio, or shoud I have filled out a form or somwthing?

moses

Moses,
The $40 guest fee goes towards your "limited ORA membership". The other $20 we charged you went to pay for markers. Three visits with paying a guest fee and your membership is paid for the year. I have plenty of 7.62 so you don't have to worry about that. Bring your buddies rifle and your buddy too.

Ice-Pick, the danger template at Cedar Springs isn't as generous as Borden, but I will let you know if I run into some .50 cal ammo. See you at the ORA.

Two from Windsor are driving here sometime on Thursday. From here we need to pick up another shooter in London and we will be on our way. Camping at Earl Rowe for the weekend. Do you know if the Lisle gate is open?
