I have fairly large hands, so I can reach most mag releases without much difficulty. But when shooting against the clock, I want to be absolutely sure my finger is on the button. And in cold weather matches (like CQB in October or November) I wear mechanic's gloves, and can't feel the button nearly as clearly as I would like.

The solution is a dab of 5 minute epoxy. (I buy the dual syringe version at Dollarama) I clean the control with some brake cleaner and then put on a dab. It is left to harden with the dab facing down, so it forms a tear drop shape. The point is easy to find and feel, even with gloves.

Here is a Glock with an extended mag release and slide lock.

Mix the epoxy and paint (I use a screwdriver blade to apply) the release with a thin dab. let the mix cure for two minutes and then put a bigger dab on the release and then lay it down face down to cure. I lay the pistol across a coffee mug or a roll of tape, so nothing touches the dab.

Thanks for the tips, next time I clean my M&P I'll have to try it. I have some two part epoxy in both a syringe and some jb weld somewhere. Jb weld might be the ticket, it's already dark grey and I could build it up and lightly shape it with a small file.
