Free float handguard

FABsports have their site updated with new stuff. I got the Spikes free float. Looks good!

You realize this rail is not a drop in right? You have to take your barrel off and remove your FSB to get this new barrel nut on.

I don't think you need to remove the barrel, just front site and gas tube. Barrel can stay in with the upper.

No, but you need to remove the old barrel nut and use the Spikes barrel nut, nothing else holds the barrel but that nut so its pretty much removing the barrel.

Wolverine also has the midwest industries line which is reasonably priced.

I was originally looking at the troy trx but after reading some horror stories about helicoils backing out and cracked rails I ordered some of the Midwest SS series rails from wolverine. They seem to have good reviews from what I've read and they're lightweight.

This is true. The Spikes rail uses a proprietary barrel nut to secure itself to the carbine. You should be prepared to do the work yourself or send the upper away to get it worked on.

Mine is holding up alright. ;) I think most of these internet stories get blown out of proportion.

I have used the omega rail before and it was a well built piece of kit. I think I may even have it still lying around here somewhere. I had no complaints at all about it and wouldn't hesitate to use it again.

I thought I saw a couple threads on arfcom or m4c about the troy FF HGs being prone to cracking? I like the concept, especially the extreme but if they are just finish machined investment castings as reported I'll pass.

They arn't castings, they are machined from extrusion same as most of the other brands.
