Free floating marlin 60

Ive got a marlin 60 that I'm trying to get all the accuracy I can out of. I just ordered a mcarbo trigger spring kit for it and already drilled and threaded the trigger for a set screw which eliminated the creep. I put a Boyd's laminate stock on it a few years ago and free floated the barrel but am wondering about the mag tube. If it's tight in the channel is the barrel actually free floated being as the barrel and tube are attached? Just wondering should I be sanding that channel out as well to keep from touching? I am thinking I should be but was just hoping for some advice from you guys with experience. I've never bothered doing stuff like this before. More just seeing if I can actually get more accuracy out of her.

if the magazine tube is so far out of alignment with the barrel, I would carefully drive the dovetail band in the direction it needs to move, rather than sanding out the channel

but realistically unless it's seriously tight in the channel and putting pressure on the barrel, I don't think it would drastically affect accuracy

any other plans? glass bed, pillars?

I started in this direction with one of my 60's, then decided the 795 would be easier to work with, primarily because of the mag tube

the mcarbo springs are quite nice, and if you're not aware you can get DIP parts shipped to Canada through kinneys shooting supply......sounds like a cool project, hope you post your final pics...I'm definitely in the 60/795 crowd over the 10/22 crowd lol

Not sure if I'll do anything else to her or not. Just ordered spring kit yesterday so I'm waiting on it. I ended up putting a small washer in the stock at the front reciever bolt which brought the mag tube up a hair and now it's not touching the stock channel at all. Not sure if this will help anything or not. Hopeing the spring kit will help cause it's a very heavy trigger. The gun is actually my grandson's. I bought it for him a few years ago and he cherry picked my spare scopes and decided on a forest camo Boyd's stock. They moved down to the city a couple years ago and he's lost interest so I've been shooting it bit lately and thought I would just try a couple things with it. I also put a bipod on and polished the bolt and inside of a reciever a bit which really smoothed it out nicely.
