Look what showed up in the mail today. Brand new FA in the new 500WE. I want to thank Clay at Prophet River for importing her. Awesome guy to deal with, very patient too:p Fit and finish is superb. It is my second FA, last one was in the whimpy 454 casull:p Sorry for the s**tty pictures. Have it shown with the 500 S&W for comparison.

I think the .500 Wyoming is a great idea, a big bore cartridge designed to be used in a normal sized gun. I've thought about getting a fixed sight model in 4.75" trim to use as my primary ATC gun, but haven't made the plunge yet. Having said that, chances are I would never be able to make use of the full power potential of the cartridge as for my purposes having control for fast repeat shots is just as important as bone crushing power. And there lies the problem, would the down loaded .500 be any better than my .44 with 325 gr WFNs at 1200? In a dangerous bear situation penetration is all important, and it could be that when the .500 is loaded to similar recoil levels, it might not penetrate as well as my .44. All the same I am more than a little jealous.

Hehe, sure makes the 500 S&W feel like a pimp's gun:p I think with full house loads, I'm almost at my pain threshold after 10 shots:eek: Would still buy a 600 cal if one was built.

Looks good:). I went to check out Prophet Rivers site but I think it's in the process of change and/or update. Is that basically the same gun or model that's available in 45-70? What's something like that 'bad boy' going for??

Hey John, Clay imported the gun for me. I got it from a listing on Gun America. Google Freedom Arms, I got it landed taxes and import fees/exchange rate and two box of brass for the listed msrp. Your confusing Magnum Research BFG 45-70. Different maker different gun. Anyway come out to the range sometime and try it, it'll make our 500 S&W seem like a girls gun:p

:redface:You're right. After many years absence, I've recently re-joined the Cowichan club, primarily because our local range is now behind a locked logging Co. gate:rolleyes:.. I'll take you up on the offer to 'try it out' one day down the road before too long.
