Ugh. What a headache. I’m not letting Trudy know about anymore guns.
Registration is confiscation - hard pass on this upper.
Just get an R lower along with it, best of both worlds... Or leave it in your safe for when shtf..

Genuine question does that muzzle device do anything or is it just an aesthetic thing (reverse suppressor type deal). Looks like the diameter is a little small for it to act as a blast mitigator, which would be cool.

Aesthetics only. You could swap it out for a shroud/reverse suppressor with build in linear comp, which would reduce blast for the shooter. Not sure if they would fit under the handguard though.
