I'll post pics tomorrow. Any idea what an un issued MAS 36-51 might be worth? Everything matches, never issued, bayonet is there too. I'm not that up on these guns.

It's as new, just came out of the wrap, this is the first time its seen light since it was last crated.

would be worth more in the wrap I guess.

I purchased one 20 years ago in the wrap with all the papers from the factory in Clermont-Ferrand... the wrap was a great fire starter BTW.

I saw one still in the wrap out in Victoria at one of the dealers there last year for $350 and it just sat and sat... I thought about buying it, but meh...

I bought one about a year ago at a local gun show that is all matching, came with the butt pad, sling and one box of ammo for $200.00. It's out of the wrap but in other wise mint shape. I know I got a great deal but they don't seem to sell for a lot more.

Rifles aren't the problem - ammo is. I doubt that many MAS rifles were outside of Quebec where there is a cultural interest in (some) things French. When International Firearms was in business, they seemed to have sources for these things.

I bought one five years ago "right out of the wrap" for $300 - thought that was a good deal. So few change hands, it's difficult to assess what it's worth, but I'd guess in the $400 range. You'll get top prices in Canada right here on CGN (pointing to your website), but you know that.

I've never shot, it, but have shot my MAS36. It's easy: Lee dies and loads, prvi brass, 308 bullets. Tradex sells the brass.

It is a slick-looking rifle...;)...but I'm shuddering on the inside at the prospects of the bolt-throw...

The bolt-throw isn’t as bad as you’d think. Other than being stiff because it’s basically new it’s manipulation is no worse than many other Milsurps. It’s certainly easier than an early Mauser with a strait (non-turned-down) bolt handle. I don’t see myself breaking the bolt in much ether with the relative scarcity of ammo for it ether.

last one i was they wa in un issued condition sold for $475 i have seen them as high as $600

For a 36-51!?! Not a sum I will EVER pay for this ugly ducking. Now a straight MAS36 with no ugly post-war NATO grenade launcher crap... well, maybe. If it's nice.

The 36 is a fine rifle, but the 36-51 was hit with the ugly stick IMHO.

In general though, I prefer a good Berthier ;)

Just re-size 6.5 Swedish in the dies and load using .308 projectiles and data - what could be easier?
