Sorry for the bashing but I couldn't resist.

I collect French rifles and pistols. I have a Lebel, Berthier rifle and carbine, MAS-36, Chamelot-Delvigne 1873, St. Etienne 1892, and both types of M1935 pistol.

I have a M1936 MAS. If you reload it isn't any more expensive to shoot than any other 30 cal military rifle. I use Lee dies and used to make cases from 6.5x55. Graf brass is now available. Mine is quite accurate with both jacketed and cast bullets. There was a good article in Handloader a few years back on reloading for this cartridge. Not sure of the issue # without looking it up but I do have it filed away somewhere.

My favorite is MAS-49/56. Should have snatched one up while it was still available in the 90's.

Hell they get cred from me for the pounding they took in WWI and survived. Not much interested in a MAS although I've seen a couple in nice shape and reasonably priced, but would take a Lebel in a minute.

Lebels/Berthiers are very nice old guns. Well made, great balance and fun to shoot.
Mas /36 was the last bolt action designed and fielded by a modern army. Built like a tank, it uses .308 bullets and brass is very availiable from site sponsers.
1892 French Service revolver is very well built and fits my hand very well. Can be had as an antique also.
