Fresh horse manure attracted coyotes next to my bow hunting spot

Here is the problem, any suggestions, please.

Bow season starts for me this weekend and I am ready, so this morning I took a drive to my spot to check on my pile of apples I laid there a week ago. As I enter the front end of the field and look across to the tree line I hunt from, there are three coyotes just looking right back at me.

It turns out that the horse breeder that owns the land decided to get rid of his fresh manure that was too close to his home. So he filled his truck and dumped the manure in the back end of his land (about 50 meters from my hunting spot). This large pile of fresh horses**t has attracted the coyotes and my bow seasons starts tomorrow morning.

Boy, was I pissed

I have an alternate spot, but given a choice I would rather hunt this spot.

Any suggestions.

Robert

colt/calf sh*t is practially all milk. Coyotes love it. Dogs do to.

I would go sit there the atleast a couple days and take a few coyotes out. You never know, I see coyotes all the time on my stand, shouldnt scare the deer that bad.

I will have to change my position

the coyotes or the crap should not bother the deer. They are use to both.

Well, I took your advise DVXDUDE and sat in my tree this weekend and I observed how the deer would react to the coyotes in this particular situation.

The coyotes were back every day feeding on the fresh horse s**t and whatever else was mixed up in that pile. The deers are returning to the field twice a day as they usually do, but they have taken a round about way and enter the field from a new spot on the opposite side of the field. As they enter, about 90 meters from my position and therefore too far for me to make a clean kill with my bow, they are down wind of the coyotes. The deer remain vigilant as to there position as they cautiously feed. The moment the coyotes make any sort of move and start heading towards the dear, they immediately disappear into the bush.

If anything, it was an interesting study of dear /coyote interaction.

Next week, I will change my strategy.

Regards
Robert
