I find it very strange that I found these moose sheds on October 14th and 15th. The one on the 14th was probably dropped within an hour of when I found it. The other was found the following day nearby. They are from area 12B in Ontario which is the Atikokan area which is just west of Thunder Bay. Does anyone have any thoughts on why they dropped so early? I would also like to add that it was opening weekend for rifles.

That's too strange , so the stumps were bloody ? I never see moose horns that shape from the year before unless they were in mud
Could see one ripping off in a scrap , but both sides ?

Moose shed their antlers when their testosterone levels drop..... this occurs naturally due to photoperiod (short daylight) every year, but pretty much anything that cuts their testosterone could cause it (injury, malnutrition, illness etc.)

Yes the stumps were bloody. They were also on an old gravel road, and the first set I found still had fresh moose tracks, and fresh gravel where the antler landed.

I think it's an attempt at humour.....in that if 2 trees were to fall simultaneously, one on each side of Mr. Moose, each tree would knock off a set of antlers.....

Has no one ever stepped over a horizontal log and had the footing on the other side give way causing the boys to get crushed? I know I have but somehow I still had 2 kids...
