Fricking Chinese Surplus Rifle...

The lucky thing is, I won't be needing to shoot it as much as I get to shoot C7's now, which are definately more fun.

Yeah, that does sound like more fun! And cheaper. Besides joining the Forces... oh well, point taken. I'll pay the postage to the lower mainland.

QUOTE=mattfrombc]I could go on for hours in my disgust over the lemon of an SKS I bought from LEVER ARMS a year or so ago. Experienced many of the problems posted about in this thread. ie. barrel seperation from receiver via s**tty pinned interface, bolt assemly locking forward (fail to extract, could only solve by beating on charging handle).

That's where I got my lemon too. I have to say that they were good about taking it back. No problem there. But almost all the guys(except the gunsmith dude and a new guy) are pretty sullen and act like they don't really want to sell you anything, and would prefer if you just left.

hey!! was that you at poco about two months ago using a rusty claw hammer to beat the charging handle back?  :D :D i seriously saw a guy doing this after every round.

HAHA...no that wasn't me; mind you I've seen other ppl at poco in similar circumstances (in the past when shooting at the gravel pit I just used a rock lol!) My chicom SKS is just my designated parts gun now, its simply too frustrating to shoot. Lever repinned the barrel for me...still didnt work... gave me a "new" rifle eventually, but I ended up with the same problems AGAIN. They even tried to lay it into me that I hadn't cleaned it enough

They won't give refunds on these guns for obvious reasons....they are/were stuck with a massive shipment of LEMONS and they simply don't want to cut their losses and would rather put the customer at risk in order to recoup their investment!

The current batch o Czech surplus (Corrosive S&B), which works flawlessly in my Yugo. ETA: Im assuming you were asking me, but I could be wrong.

Solution here is straight forward: Buy a milspec Type 56 and avoid the parts bin Frankenovs.

An original , milspec Type 56 is the equal of any other version. Refurb is OK, too but insist on matched parts.. Better yet, go for an original non refurb.

Those rifles were imported from lever arms. I know because I had an SKS that had a barrel spacing problem after the first 5 slam fire shots.. LOL. Glad I got a CZH2003 after the ordeal.

Don't blame China for this one. You want a boat load of Chinese parts assembled into what resembles a firearm? Pay up and you can have what you want.

I'll say this yet again: The "04" serial series with pinned bbl and cheap rubber butt pad is not a legit variant of a milsurp T56. It was never used by the PLA or exported for military use.

IMHO, the importer was looking for a cheaper alternative for a surplus SKS and got it. I don't think they are still selling these due to the bad press about them in the RFC. I'd be surprised if this was not so.

There are literally millions of good, milsurp SKSs still in the PRC. Another Canadian importer has no trouble getting them and I'm not talking about Marstar as in this case as I have not examined an example from them yet.

Norinco is China North Industries, an umbrella company for China's heavy industries and sells everything from firearms to steel sewer covers. It's not a manufacturer in itself.

All the firearms factories in China are part of the PLA arsenal system.
China's arms plants have excess capacity and at times many produce consumer goods like buses and bicycles. The original Chinese arsenal, Jianshe (AKA /26\), produced arms from the early 1900s until the late 80s when it went into partnership with Yamaha to produce motorcycles.

+2 I talk to my wife all the time about these things as she is a Logistics person for a shipping company, and all you need is...

A) That it be legal.
B) The money up front.
C) That it be legal.

And China will sell you just about anything (that is not in use in it's current arsenal).

Just be sure to have a place for the SeaCan(s). :D

FWIW, I had a couple different lever Arms guns - one from the late 90's and one from 2001. Both were Militayr Type 56's that didn't say "Norinco", or anything else in English on them. Both were early factory 26 Jianshe production, all milled, threaded and blade bayos. Both worked flawlessly - neve ra single problem with either ever after thousands of rounds. Both got sold here in the EE when gun my interests changed, however.

If you buy a Chinese SKS, look around and get a matching ex-military gun or matching refurb thereof. Settle for nothing less and you will NOT be disappointed.

Sadly, the more recent Lever Arms guns are trash. I can;t recommend ANYONE buy one there anymore unless their inventory reverts back to the better quality guns they used to have.
