LOL...the funniest part of this thread were the gunsmith reccomendations....did ya miss the winking smiley?
Let me preface ths by saying that this friend hid a pair of his wifes (very ###y) panties in MY couch to stir things up with the old lady......it worked......payback time.
I sent him a link to a very similar looking (real) pistol being auctioned in the UK.....at $12000 (L) ....he called me on the phone within 10 seconds! He just about crapped his pants
Now, me being the kind of friend I am, walked him through a series of "tests" to determine authenticity....LAMO...I had him yelling into the friggin muzzle listening for an echo 
After a good 15 minutes of humiliation, I assured him that all the tests had passed so far, and there was only one test left to perform. He was having a fit by this time....."Last test" I told him, "I gotta go help the wife, but theres only one test left. While I'm gone, see if a magnet sticks to it, then call me back!" Now, I never told him if the magnet sticking was good or bad, just to do it and call me back......1 minute after hanging up my wife and I went out to a movie 
I came back to 11 messages! They started excited, then concerned, then just pissed off....."Why arent you answering the goddamn phone?!?!?!"
When I called him back (eventually ) he just about shouted "The magnet doesn't stick! What does that mean?!?!) 
I finally let him off the hook.....but man it was funny.

I disagree, I havee seen a documentry on an inicident involving the hijacking of a very famous ship ( the Black Pearl) and there are several of this very type of pistol used.
it is obviously the real deal, but you should run a proof test, to be certain.
IMHO, I would recommend a mid range load of 75 grains of FFFG powder and an apporiate ball.
OH-ALMOST FORGOT! And a tree, some string(lonnnng string) and ear plugs!

Get this.....So he has given the replica (sans flint) to his 6 yr old. I give it a week or so before the gun is broken/lost. Once that happens........
My brother is a big-time graphic artist type. I had him take the photo that my buddy sent me and re-work the background. He designed a web page featuring that exact gun in another auction for huge $$$....when the time comes my brother is going to send him an email on behalf of the "Staffordshire Historical Society" inquiring as to A: He still has the pistol that was talked about on the Canadian gun site, and B: If it looks like this: (Insert link to fake page here). Said emails will be followed by an offer to purchase for some huge amount, but dependant on the gun being in exc. condition.....
Then I'll stop....I promise........
