Friend traded a Rem 1187 for a Hatsan Escort???!!!

My buddy had a camo Rem 1187 and decided to trade it straight up for a new Hatsan Escort magnum in a black synthetic stock. I thought he was nutz. What are YOUR thoughts??

Supposing both shotguns were of equal condition (ie the 1187 is basically as new), he's an idiot. Unless the 1187 was trashed or otherwise barely functional, there is no way that was a good trade for him. New 1187s start at $800 and Hatsans end at about $600 for their top of the line model.
