Found out the hard way this evening, DO NOT PUT A G17 BARREL IN A G19.
The best way I can explain is it turns your 19 into one giant cluster f--k and is one hell of a pain to un-f--k.
Just don't do it.

Please proceed to remind me of how stupid that was of me so I refrain from doing it again.

In case anyone's interested, getting it off isn't that terrible if you have a second set of hands.
Have the other guy pull the trigger forward, while you fish a punch up the Magwell to depress the firing pin safety button. Now while doing both of those, slide the back plate off and remove the striker assembly and everything else that comes out. Then just take the slide off as you normally would.

Learn from my mistake, and just don't do it.
