Hey Guys,

Just got my first M305B and it is a beaut!

I know they are guns that get greased and not lubed, but out of curiosity, what is the "best" lube to use? The old lubriplate stuff, or is there a modern alternative that performs even better?

Also, what about frog lube paste? I have a tub of it that I use to treat guns with, but what if I just smeared it on as a grease and not "melt" it in?

Thanks for the info!

I don't think you answered his question at all actually. The m14 rifles need to be greased, not oiled. He is looking for a suitable substitute for grease, not what is the best oil.

They don't need to be greased, that's just what was used on the M1/M14 in military service. I've run them with oil and it works just the same as have others. I only speak from experience which doesn't mean much around here so take it how you will. Pretty much any lube is going to work provided it doesn't dry out, gum up or get too thick in cold temps. Frog Lube paste is not supposed to be applied thick. It gums up and gives people grief when they slop it all over and reassemble.
