From DI to Piston

Biggest falsehood on piston guns is that they run cleaner. 99% of the fouling in a gas gun comes from the round uncorking from the chamber when pressure is still in it.

The piston gun appears to run much cleaner than the DI, even taking into account the popped primer in the DI gun (Ball powder evident in photo 4).

No arguments about suppressed use, but without the suppressor the difference in these photos and many others is glaringly obvious.
 
Actually it was not a popped primer, we found what was happenning a few weeks later -- the AA40 RRLP ammo was dropping the bullet on extraction of a live round and spilling powder all inside the gun.
