From the attic of a guy I met near Strasburg...

So did he tell you how much is inert and how much is live? :p Something in me bets a majority are live and real:dancingbanana:

Picture 6...what are the sticks? Explosives?

Yrs ago I recall reading an article about a Frenchman in the Falaise area who made a life-long hobby of amassing German war material which had been discarded in the stampede and destruction of the German Seventh Army through the area.
There are several excellent museums in Normandy where artifacts of all the combatants are well preserved and displayed.

Amazing the amount of stuff that's hiding in basements.
Does make you wonder how many of those grenades, etc are live. The French and Belgian Armies have EOD techs who do nothing but collect UXB's from farm gateways. Everything from HE to gas rounds and grenades are un-earthed regularly by farmers plowing. Not surprising considering the amount of arty ammo fired, by both sides, in both wars.

History channel had a doc on the bomb removal teams in France. They said at the current rate, France will be de-mined in another 700 years.

Something the French bashers in the USA seem to overlook. Europeans are still living with the war, the allies simply went home after the war to clean fields and woodlots.

I would say someone had a realitive in the resistance,, just based on the vast and randomness of the collection, and I would bet that there are more "firearms" that are not allowed to be possesed that are kept in a even more private colleection.
