From Trash To Class

I bought this Howa 1500 a couple months ago, in this hideous stock, as a base to slowly turn it into a budget build precision rifle. I finally picked up an MDT Chassis in Tactical Peanut Butter and it looks so much better. Next will be threading and installing an MDT muzzle brake.

So ugly.



It's like a totally different rifle.

Great action, never got into those #### LSI plastic chassis affairs. Trash stock for sure, great barreled action.
XRS stocks are quite solid, I did the same with a Savage 12FV that came with a #### plastic stock.
I did everything to that stock first, bedded it, weighted it, stiffened the forend, it shot great after that. Then decided it needed a nicer stock.
Black Friday deals were good at MDT, stuck it one of those and never looked back.

"Weatherby Vanguard" thats the part that made it shoot great. Lol.
I LVOE weatherby rifles. I wish they would get with the times and offer one in an MDT chassis and box mag. Their new 700 clone is meh.
For the longest time they where the only ones offering accuracy guarantees and a two stage trigger in a budget rifle.

Curious about that barrel. Call me crazy but that looks chonky, more so than the factory heavy barreled actions. Just an older production or a newer outfit?
