I have a shorty 11.5'' Armailte rifle.
I'd like to install a drop in quad rail forearm (one that can install like factory plastic units)
What are my option for something not too expensive ?
What about the midwest industries rails are they any good ?

Thanks

I was just looking for some rails and other accessories for my AR. I found this place that sells to Canada. Seems like a decent rail system for a good price.

SureFire is good, but the top rail is not level with the receiver, that may or may not be a deal breaker depending on your desired function.

MI is also good to go, I believe one of our dealers is now stocking them too.

Get the best, Knights Armament! I have a rifle length M5 RAS which installs as easily as your basic handguards. It's not free-floated but the upper rail will retain zero and is rock solid, the lower doesn't get much support, but you won't need that kind of precision for a vertical grip or flashlight. I've been hearing a lot of praise for Daniel Defense and LaRue rails, but they come with a hefty price tag and I consider those "designer" rails, sure they're functional but at that price you'll be consumed in rage over the slightest scuff.

Since when did YHM start selling to Canadians? I've been trying to get some simple $10 parts from them for years.

Yeah, that does sound strange. Most of their parts are considered gun parts and therefore subject to the US State Departments requirement for an export certificate. Questar could probably get you this part with little paperwork.

Not sure when they started. I was searching for a rail system for my AR and they have solid aluminum, free floating systems for a fraction of the cost of other sites. Robmcc also recommended them to me the other night.

But have you ordered the rail from them and did they ship it?

I tried to buy some scope risers, for a grand total of $15 and they wouldn't give me the time of day.

My personal opinion on rails have tried a bunch of them.

IF you want a rail -- get a good one (or you will be disappointed)

IF all you want if to mount a light and/or a vert grip get the add on rails for the stock handguard.

YHM CANNOT legally sell the rail into Canada - buyer beware!

One one M4 of mine I added a simply chunk of the plastic surefire rail and drilled thru the handguard to mount the rail for the light at aprox 2'Oclock.

I invite you gentleman to try the TROY FF rails, they are solid and work great, they are easy to mount and require that you only cut off the delta ring for mounting, they are not the cheapest or the most expensive but do provide excellent quality & free-float your rail system, the bottom rail is also easily removed for mounting M203's or just cleaning, I have sold them to LE and civilian sales alike without any problems or complaints.

I take it you are a dealer for Troy Industries? I just bought an AR and am looking for a decent rail system. Could you PM me a price for a rail system for a 16 inch colt ar?

No, I have not ordered anything from them and probably will not now that I know they cannot sell to Canada.

I can vouch for the Troy Industries rails. I've got an MRF-MX (10" version for use with a low profile gas block), and it's amazing. VERY simply install.

My only complaint about it is that there's a very slight gap between the upper and lower rail assembly, and it slides back and forth about 1/16th of an inch. Hard to notice when not using a vertical grip, but I sure do notice it when I wiggle the vert. grip front to back. I'm sure that new rails are tighter, as I haven't heard of a complaint like this, so I guess I got the lemon :(

Overall, though, I love the rail, and I wouldn't want to replace it with something else, as Troy is a pretty damn good deal up here in Canada.

Nope. If a Dealer can't, a civie can't either. Thats what it sucks sometimes, but you have to use the supply channels available here. If you know where to look you can get what you want 99% of the time though. CQBServices being one of those ace supply channels. ;)

I'm an ARMS SIR junkie now, no other way to roll... :p

I've got the YHM two piece handguard rails and notice the same thing as pavehammer did with his troy. There is some noticeable wiggle when using a vertical foregrip (I would guesstimate about 1/16" as well). Its slightly annoying but I still feel it was money well spent. The fit and finish of the YHM are def. not on par with the higher end rails, but mine did line up flush with rear rail on my upper.
