Hey guys got a maybe silly question but I have a matech rear sight on the way for a upcoming build and am trying to decide what I should get for a front sight.

In all honesty does it really matter what front sight you use? There is a bit of a difference from a magpul sight to a troy price and material etc. The other route in thinking is the DD fixed front sight.

I'm putting an eotech on this but can swap out for a aimpoint if I like so quality optics vs buis at the range not life dependant

I've read that the Matech is a good sight, IIRC it's issue on the US Army's rifles. DD front sight s are quality. I prefer "micro" sights like the KAC.

It depends on what your build is... Are you building something specific?

As an example, a Block 2 M4A1 or MK18 would use a taupe/tan Knights Armament Company flip up front sight. A MK12 would use the black one. A Block 1 MK18 Mod 0 would usually have a LMT fixed Rear sight on it with a front sight post. If you're looking at a flip up front sight, i'm guessing that you have a rail. KAC is expensive but after using them I won't go back to any other flip ups.

Since you're going with an Eotech or Aimpoint, I'd suggest the fixed BUIS. I like that with the fixed sights, if your battery dies you don't have to stop and flip up your sights. LMT or Daniel Defense are solid. I'd stay away from Magpul BUIS but that's just my opinion. Having siad this, I switched to flip up BUIS set up and it does give me a slightly less cluttered view through my EOTech with the sights out of the way. I built a very specific carbine and this is what the recipe called for. I was happy with fixed irons and an EOTech before.

I doubt this has helped... haha End of rant.

I am currently shopping for a troy m4 folding front sight. After a lot of reading the hk style is not recommended on an AR due to the post elevation not being center in the circle

I like the looks of the HK version. I sight using the top of the sight post, didn't know it was supposed to be centered in that circle. Doesn't bother me and it shoots just fine.

For the OP, if you like shooting iron sights or like the bling factor, then some Troy Battle Sights or MidWest Industries or ARMS or Yankee Hill etc are pretty nice. If you just want them for SHTF kinda scenario, the Magpul MBUS works equally well and use the money saved for ammo.
