Just sitting relaxing watching TV when suddenly my dogs started barking and growling right in front of the house, went out to investegate. The dogs were barking at the wife's honda and under the front of it, hissing back at them was a medium sized badger. I have never seen a badger come into the yard before, but then I have only lived here for 50 yrs. Went to the gun safe and grabbed the wife's 10/22 and called the dogs back and put a chunk of lead between his eyes. When was the last time anyone had the hunt come to within 20 feet of their front door? Life is good out here in the boonies.

When I was about 16 I was having breakfast at the kitchen table before the school bus came. Looking out the window I seen a nice 5x5 whitetail eating apples under mom's apple tree. Shot him out the kitchen window with the .243. Scared the crap out of everyone in the house. Easiest deer season I have ever had.

I remeber waking up one morning and heading out a good hour before first light. About 30 minutes after first light we hear a shot ring out from the RV we had as a camp. We head back later that day and our buddy who had slept in due to too many beers the night before had shot his buck right off the front step. He saw it while brewing some coffee, the shell casing was sitting in a camp chair.

Once in a while you get a gift.
I hunted from 6:30 AM till 10:45 AM and then returned to my 4X4 to have a bite.
After eating, I felt sleepy, so laid my head back and caught 40 winks.
When I woke up, I spotted a 3 point muley buck right behind the 4X4 through the outside mirror.
Needless to say, he wasn't too hard to put in the freezer!
Eagleye.

Last night (Thursday) a fellow flagged me down in Gravelbourg and said that he had just seen a bloody badger right in town. He said the town foreman was going to trap it. Hmmm, the fellow thought maybe it would be best to shoot it. He was going to see if he could find it and smoke it with a shotgun and just wanted to let me know in case there were any reports of "gunfire". I told him by all means get rid of it, before it started eating Poopsie the poodle dogs.

Last year I took a coyote through my screen door. Scared the hell outta the ol lady. I've taken 2 more from the kitchen window with the 25-06. Rule 1 make sure the barrel is outside the window or you need to replace cheap old window. And its loud and rattles everything in the house. This year I might get a deer with the cross bow from the porch. Is it to redneck to mount a tree stand on your roof?

badgers are real easy to kill if you can get a head shot, if not they can soak up quit a bit of small calibre lead. I have killed lots of badgers with just a hammer or wrecking bar with a good whack on the nose.:)
