I bought a second hand priemer one recticle leupold mark 4 8-25x scope and I have fallen in love.

I am in need of another for my other big rifle, and have no idea where to look. I would prefer to get another scope the exact same, but I doubt that will be possible. I know leupold now sells the mark 4's with front focal plane recticle, but I'm not sure if anybody up here has one in stock??

I will have to sell off the benchrest 12x-42x Night force I have on it now as it just does not do the same trick for me.

has anybody seen any front focal plane scopes in the 25x+ max zoom, within a decent price range (2Kish) ?

Thanks

I know that I am going to take major flak from all the leo lover's out there but the Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP Riflescope cost's only $1250 with taxes in and is the awsome quailty and varry comparible to the Mark 4's, NF's & Ziess's lines of scopes except in most cases 1/2 the price. But if that scope is the 1 that your heart's on contact Phil @ P&D Enterprises and he will be able to hook you up.

Thanks man, I will have a look into the Vortex, I have heard good things about them. I have found some Mark 4's for the 2600$ range, but willing to try something new if it has decent reviews.

Haha I shouldn't have looked around!

So I ordered a scope..... not sure if it was smart but we'll see how it does.

I have and like the mark 4 8-25, and they are about 2600 to get another of, thats fine, now that I know that I can get one.

What I saw while browsing was a "falcon menace, 5.5-25x-56 FFP" for 550$, I laughed a little and clicked on it, and it looked decent. I searched and read a few good reviews on it on snipershide. I wasn't really considering it, but then I thought about the NC star scope my old man bought and put on his 243.... then proceeded to shoot .5 moa groups out to 500 yards.... I never thought the scope would hold at all, and it still does.

So I figured for 550$ I will try this scope, if it sucks I will just buy the Leupold mark4.

The vortex looks good also, I will leave it for somebody else to test though.

*edit; after ordering frontier informed me they don't actually have this.... soooooo I guess I won't test it. Maybe I will track down a vortex or just buy the Mark 4, unless there is another source for the Falcon manace?

I got in a Falcon menace 5.5-25x56mm FFP and side by side tonight it is just as clear as my Mark 4 Leupold.... I'm very impressed. The clicks are not as nice, but not bad either. It seems to be built ok.

I will take it out shooting and see what happens as to accuracy, I have her mounted in Night Force rings, on a solid 30 moa base, so as long as the scope does its part it should be good. For 500$ its a cheap test, however it could fall apart the first shot I take,:p If so priemer 1 here I come!

I hope it dosn't fall apart after the first shot. As there warrenty work is an unkown as compared to your leupold.
If you don't mind, please report back after you use it a few time's & tell us how you like it. Such as stuff, like tracking & shooting in low light conditions on max zoom.
This would be great if you could.
