Front Sight Canted?

So years ago I bought a Marlin 1895 from Cabelas back in days of the Remlin fiasco. I have no ideas how it took so long, but I finally realized that the front sight post is slightly canted to the left as if the barrel has been overclocked.

I have a William's aperture sight on the receiver, so I'm wondering if this is much of a big deal? I seem to be accurate enough out to 100 yards with it, granted I'm not a super good shot with open sights.

Thoughts and opinions? Is it worth the trouble to try and get it fixed? Or just run the hell out of it?

If you’ve been shooting it this long with accurate results I don’t think I’d worry about it too much, if you’re able to hit the mark with irons at 100y to 150y I’d be fine with it if it was me.

Is the sight crooked or is the hood crooked? Some sights appear off, but the hood is badly skewed and distorts the view.

First thing I did was take the sight hood off, they just aren't my style. I put a level on the receiver sight and it became painfully apparent that the front sight sticks out at 11:30-11:45. I must not have notice before becuase when I shoot off-hand, I would tilt the whole rifle to get the sight post at 12 o'clock. It wasn't until I put the level on and actually looked at it that I noticed.

I find it super annoying seeing the front sight's lean off to the side, sure by adjusting the rear sight you can usually get on target but it bothers me visually.

I wonder if this factory defect is something that Marlin would fix?

If you wanted to you could replace the front sight base with a NECG Universal Banded Front Ramp . You would have to remove the existing front sight base, measure the barrel and see if they have one that will fit? They can either be soldered on or I believe they have one model with a set screw.

Just to add fuel to the fire... how about checking to see if your Marlin has barrel droop.
