Anyone using a 22mm Gehmann adjustable front sight iris on their 308 fullbore target rifle? I'm looking to upgrade my setup and am looking for options that are able to stand the recoil on a 308. I understand that DCRA rules now allow a level and an optic lens in the front sight as well. My eyes need all the help they can get:(.

Yes, I am. I can get you the model number if you want.

I am using it in conjunction with a "+0.5" Eagle Eye, which gives me a bit more than 1.5X magnification of the target aiming black. The aperture I use is adjustable from 4.0-6.0mm. I'll use 6.0mm at 500 yards, about 5.5mm at 300y/m and 600y/m, about 5.6mm at 800m and about 5.0mm at 900m.

Why don't you sneak away from work one day during the week, come to Springfield, and try it out....?

Maynard three years ago is the future for a slow old fat guy like me LOL. I still struggle with the power windows in the better half's car:redface:. Daniel thanks for the offer, I forgot to look at it last weekend:( [too much talking not enough learning, according to my mother]. I think I'll go with the Gehmann and try to get it setup before the next match. The ladder sights look cool but I am sometimes not as carefull as I should be with my gear and right now I've got enough excuses for my score ;). Thanks guys good shooting.

It's the slow old guys like us that need the huge front sight with a .5 diopter:p
Nice thing about them is that the rear sights may only need to move about a minutes up or down and all the elevation adjustments are made on the front. Cheek pressure stays the same without the need to adjust the cheek piece up as you move back. I found my Right Sight very easy to get used to after years of moving the rear sight. The Right Sight also comes with a Gehmann iris and sun shades. Same front sight on several rifles if you buy the barrel bands for all your rifles.
