front sight for win 94

i have a winchester pre 64 30 30 that i want to mount a redfield reciever mount aperture sight on....do i just leave the original front sight with ramp that is on there
or do i need to change it over to something else...
and if so what..............

I have a williams on my mod 94. I didnt have to change the front sight. Install your sight and give it a try. You should be good to go.
 
Most of the time you don't need to change it. But I have owned one model 94 in the past that required a taller front post. At the time I was shooting some fairly hot handloads, and with factory loads I would likely have been fine with the original bead.
 
my only concern was someone on here said that it would be better to have a straight front post to avoid the point of impact changing due to differing light conditions....does this make sense......

way back when i was looking at my old numrich catalogue and there were some 20-25 various front sights for the 94, all different heights and styles, incuding a couple of globe types- must be for those folks that can't "regulate" with a file
