I just bought a 12.5" barrel for my 870 and I would like to replace the brass front bead that comes with it. It shoots a little high so need a sight a little taller. Any suggestions on what to get and where to get it would be appreciated.

Thanks.

If I can find the right 12'' barrel, I will most probably install a XS big dot. You install it over your original bead.

The Tru-glo clip-on sights work well for the short barrels, too. I've got one on my 14".

I drilled and epoxied the front post from my Marlin 1895 on mine. According to my boresighter its the correct height at 15 yds or so. After I shoot it I'll let you know if its right or not and how tall it is.

Hard to beat the tritium XS Big Dot - its what I went with on a 12.5''.

It did require the bead that was on the Grizzly barrel be replaced with one of a different size (as it is installed over the bead - and the Grizzly bead was too large).

I can't remember the specifics - but I believe all the information regarding the proper sized bead was available on the Brownells product pages (which is where I ordered the XS BD and new bead from).

A little carefully applied JB Weld - and my XS has been bomb-proof through a couple hundred shells, including a number of 3'' slugs and buck.

That is a nice sight. What is the size (dimension) of the actual white bead? It looks quite big. Is it difficult to make a +30 yd slug shot on a 2' x 2' target?

Thanks.
