Hey Gang!
I'm looking at putting a barrel shroud on my 10/22 and need to remove the front iron site to get it on.
It's an SS stock barrel with a black front site.
Anyone know how to remove it???
Thanks!!!
Buy a brass punch, support the barrel, drift out the front sight using the punch and a brass faced hammer. Any hammer will work but brass wont damage the barrel if you miss.
It was a breeze!
I just followed the instructions givin' in this thread.
I just wrapped the barrel with a rag 2 or 3 times (instead of tape). Tightened in a vice, put the punch on the bottom left side of the site and firmly hit it with a hammer 3 or 4 times and it slid right out.
This is where the site was on the barrel.
And...this is my tacky impression of my 10/22 jungle carbine.
I'm not big in to semi auto anything but this is the second gun I'll say this. I could see my self with a gun like that. Good job and don't forget to post pictures on ANY JOB not just before and after but also the between pics too.
Ya Mike...
I just measured 2" to 2-1/2" forward of butt plate and marked center with a pencil.
I them drilled a counter sink hole with a 7/32" drill bit to a depth of 1/8".
Then I drilled in the same hole to a total depth of 3/8" with a 5/32" bit.
I inserted a Uncle Mikes base stud and screwed it in s l o w l y with a long finishing nail threw the stud hole.
Do the same thing to the front stock but only come back about an 1" to 1-1/2".
After the first one, there easy to do.
I also put a set on my Weatherby XXII and my Marlin 25MN.
