I probably got my Norinco M14 back around '93. I was expecting some uber sniper and I bought the only scope mount I knew of at the time, the ol' B-square with the two set screws. I put a 3-9 bushnell on it and was disappointed that I could only manage about 4-5" groups at 100 yards from a rest. I went through a time when I did not shoot much since but I am getting much more active again and would like to get my M14 shooting at least 1.5 MOA. I want to do some test groups before starting to modify it to see some improvements.

I was reading through the stickies and came across J996's iron sites post and when I got looking at my front sight, I think I saw I was missing a screw. Am I missing a screw and if so how should I go about getting a replacement?

Also, the only marks I can see on this rifle is the 5 digit serial number, is this normal?

Thanks,

Yup you're missing a screw. I'd say for a replacement, put something in the EE. There's bunch of people out there with shorties so should be lots of spare front FH's.

Also check to see if your castle nut retainer set screw is still in place. If your flash hidder is not properly fasten to the rifle you will also notice problems with your groups. Also if you get a chance come out to a clinic and get the guru's like Hungry or M14Doctor to get it in pinging order!

Thanks a lot Doc! Email sent.

I may run a piece of wire around the site to hold it on. I'd like to get shooting this weekend. I might get the old B-Square mount on it and see how it runs.
If so, I'll post some pics.

Thanks M14Doctor!

Thanks a lot for the norc sight screw Doctor! :D I just got it this afternoon and it worked great. I was wondering why mine went missing and was thinking maybe it was tapped oversize but it was fine.

Wow canada post is slow LOL
Over 2 weeks
Good to here it arrived ;)

When I was a kid it took two weeks for letters to get across Vancouver. Two weeks to S. Ont is magic. I remember my mum driving us all over Vancouver to deliver birthday party invitations so that they would get there on time.
