Hey,

Well, I'm interested in getting the front swivel stud put onto the barrel of my gun instead of it being on the stock. I emailed one gunsmith and he said the easiest thing to do would be to buy something from Uncle Mikes like this.
http://www.theconsumerlink.com/product_detail.asp?BID=UNCLEMIKES&T1=TCL+1441-2&navStart=118&.
Now the question is if it will fit around my barrel, which I need a micrometer to find out.

My dad has an old Mauser with the front stud directly onto the barrel. He said it was sweated on. I'm wondering if this is an option? Do I have other options besides these two? Thanks in advance for your help,

Cory

Yeah that makes sense, I might have some concerns about the barrel clamp for the stud sliding off, but I don't have any experience with these.

Uncle Mikes sells 'em in assorted diameters. Down to .420" to .470". They call 'em "Magnum Band Style". Sweating 'em on is an option, but not really necessary.
"...need a micrometer to find out..." A vernier calipre will do. Crappy Tire sells digital calipres for $34.99. Most gun shops should have inexpensive plastic calipres used for reloading too.
How long is the barrel? Just curious.

Rather than soldering the band on, which will mark the blueing if the barrel is CM or not working at all if it is stainless, a bit of 5 minute epoxy on the fully degreased barrel and band will keep it from ever moving but also allow you to remove it should you decide to.
Alcohol or brake cleaner work well in getting the oil out of the parts prior to the epoxy.

"...run about $40 to $50 or so..." Under $20US for Uncle Mike's kit, Stateside.
"...can't seem to find them..." Try Epp's. They carry Uncle Mike's stuff.
