Hi Guys; I've always been curious about this firearm, it's enblock 'ping', it's Garand thumb, and the venerable 30-06 chambering...But I don't know mix from match where these things are concerned.

Frontier have a few samples "Assembled in Switzerland" for $2K, but Switzerland sharing a border with Germany, and Marstar's recent absolute sh1t show with a "Germanic smith" assembling (if you could call it that) T2 Garands that weren't; have me in the throws of hard hesitation.

Does anyone know anything about these Garands of Frontier's? Their lineage? Is $2K indicative of an original collectors grade, or a mix matched shooter grade gun?

Noob questions perhaps, but humour this prospective buyer and help steer him into a great gun, or away from an infuriating and expensive mistake.

Thanks in advance,
Plinker 777

Not Frontier's examples, but aside from manufacturer...is there even a difference between these rifles? One more desirable than the other?

Can't speak for Frontier's Garands.

If I remember correctly(and assuming all else, like condition, is equal): WW2 draws a premium over postwar, Winchester draws a premium over Springfield, IHC draws a premium over H&R. Nearly all Garands are rebuilt, original factory and rebuild cartouches are on left side of stock. Some guns will have all correct parts for era (same year) and same manufacturer and will be more valuable.

EDIT: Here is some of the most of the important collectors terminology for changes and features. http://thegca.org/glossary-of-terms/

Frontier's are touted as Beretta's...either I'm out to lunch or they are.
$40 for an Enfield spiked bayo...worth $20 at best in my world.
No4Mk2 kinda beat $900...Maybe $300-$400 in my world.

Are Beretta M1Garand's like $1,000 in reality, or are they really worth $2K despite the other pricing of his items.

The cheapest garands I've seen used are like 1600+ dollars maybe they only sell for 1500 or less though. They also aren't new or perfect. I just bought a while back a 308 in almost mint shape but it's got a short stroking problem I paid 1050 shipped. I'm just trying to figure out where to send this or how to fix it myself. Also I wouldn't worry those other garands where in fact 308 and that's where the shotty workmanship came into an issue.

Their telephone number is on their website. A link to their website is amongst the adverts at the top of this page. They will answer questions about their goods.

The gas port on a 7.62x51 Garand barrel should be .089", which can be checked with a #43 drill bit.
The gas port on a 30-06 Garand is .079", which equates slightly larger than a #47 drill bit .

Drilling should be the last course of action, because it can't be un-done
