Frozen meat question

Try to marinade it in beer, you will be surprised how well it will come out even if it is freezer burnt and it tastes great. Ask my wife, she doesn’t like beer at all but loves to use it as a marinade. Wine and vinegar will work as a marinade as well. My uncle eats anything old found in anyone’s freezer, although he drinks the beer before he eats the meal ;).
Accidents happen and we have missed the odd piece of meat that has aged past where you would like in the freezer. Some deep freezers are big and it’s easy to miss a piece in a rush. We put the new stuff in in boxes so we use up the old stuff first. We have eaten it to no ill effects but probably have never had a piece go beyond a couple of years.

Jebus guys!

There was a written report of miners trying frozen mammoth meat, that I recall.

The rule is if it smells good and looks good, it'll do!

I've dug 5 year old meat out of the bottom of my freezer. Was delish! I keep the freezer cranked about as cold as I can keep it, The packages of meat clank when I dig through them, and it's hard on the hands to hold a bunch of the packages, while digging around for what I want.

If you really don't want to eat it, your loss!

Cheers

I've eaten meat that was older/frozen longer and it was good. Fresh is best, but it was still good.

Even freezer burnt is basically freeze-dried. I marinate it for a while and use it in stew, chili, soup, curry, etc.

What's milk do?

Takes the game out of it, tenderizes it, and just makes it much
more enjoyable, especially on stinkie meat.
My buddies wife does this and makes the meat that's somewhat
iffy shine.
Takes the gander out of goose too.
The milk does take on a milky red color that really isn't appealling,
but try it, it does make an enjoyable difference.
Stinky fish comes along a bit better too.

I've found stuff a few years old in the freezer before too, as long as it's wrapped properly (sounds like it is) and kept properly frozen. The automatic defrosting freezers are bad for letting stuff thaw a bit when they warm up to defrost.
