this weekend had 5 cursed FTFs at match.. I regularily detail clean the pistol with CLP every 200 rounds or so..

Couldnt find anything amiss...anything I should check in particular that maybe I missed?

Did it again once tonight at PPC..

The round moves about 1/2cm off the mag..then slide stops.. very easy to cycle out and remove..

124grain FMJ/ 1125 fps 9mm

???

Ideas?

thanks:D

is the sear axle rubbing against the inside of the frame? are you using a .40 mag in a 9mm?

What ammo are you using?

Im usings Franks Magic Bullets..

Once fired brass...

Dont have .40 mags..

No sign of any rub anywhere..

No unusual where..

I tried Chip McCormick slide grease. THought this might have been it..so removed it all..but still had problem..

Any ideas?

btw..can find the slide glide you recommended anywhere?

Matt Burkett sells it, as does Brian Enos. (slide Glide)

I am not into reloading, so I can't be sure of your ammo. Only other thing I can think of is your mags, are the followers scuffed up bad? When is the last time you cleaned the mags, did you put a light coat of oil on the springs?

nothing to abnormal on the followers..some scuffs.. You think maybe I should polish them lightly with super fine grit paper?

Havent oiled the springs..havent taken any apart..some are still quite new..I have 15 mags..so I rotate them around alot...never any sticking that I can see..

maybe getting hung up on followers?

Is it happening with all of your mags, or just one? Bottom line is that this shoudl not happen. You should not have to polish your followers etc.

I have NEVER had a problem like this with any of my USP's. Is it possible that your loads are so light that the slide is not going fully back? Any extraction issues?

Load one round, fire, see if the slide locks open - try this a dozen times or so. I'm going to say it's ammunition related.

The followers are plastic, and sometimes there is some plastic shavings or pieces from the molding process which stick out and make the follower too tight in the mag body...,,Also I have noticed small chips and deep gouged scratchs in some mag followers that have had lots of rounds thru them.

A 1200 grit would do the job. In the manual, is states after cleaning the mag, a light coat of oil should be applied to the mag spring.

"...the sear..." The sear has nothing whatever to do with feeding. Change ammo and mags. Jamming in any pistol is caused by one or the other.

read completely before you post:rolleyes: , SEAR AXLE, is not the SEAR. it is the pin that the sear rotates around, as does the catch, detent, disconnector.

1. How many rounds do you have in the gun? Really no need to clean the gun every 200 rds. I would say every 1000rds is sufficient.

2. Try different ammo.

3. Change the recoil spring.

4. Change the mag spring.

5. Bring it to an HK Armourer.

yeah I suspect it might be the ammo..I have maybe 5K through it now...

The mag followers have cuts and indents in them..I think Mo knows what I mean, seems bout average for these mags. The ammo doesnt feel light loaded, slide always locks out on last shot.. I think its either ammo related or its mag followers... I buy these off a local guy named Frank who supplies alot of ammo to many people..his stuff is generally considered high quality.

I have a few hundred rounds of Federal around, and will try them in the next few days to see if I can isolate it to reloads..

thanks for the help

I would guess that your ammo is maybe just a little too long OAL. Any hang up I've had with my USP's has been due to problems with my reloads.

nope havent changed any springs yet..thought recoil spring was good till like 15k?

what's the OAL of the reloads? it might too short or too long. max OAL for 9mm is 1.169in the min IIRC is around 1.09in...

btw did you have FTF's before with other ammo, since you said you shot 5K thu the gun?

nope never with other stuff... have used these loads in the past no probs either... dont have a caliper handy..will see if I can find one and measure them
